Catfish
We place brood Blue Channel Catfish in to a pond with various sized hatching cans in May. As the pond temp. reaches
68-76, we begin collecting fertilized eggs for fry production. Catfish fry are moved to a fertilized pond were we begin
feeding with sinking food. We expect to have 2" Catfish moving to the pond surface for floating feed in July. Catfish are
big eaters and grow well in dense populations.
Catfish learn quickly how to avoid the net(cats escape under the lead line), we are never sure how many will be in the
bottom when we drain a Catfish holding Pond catfish seem to disappear during most of winter.
Small Catfish have sharp poisonous spines that have injured crew members, some required medical attention for
infection that would not heal properly.
